Symphony Singers
Vince Lee, Director
Symphony Singers is a SATB chamber choir dedicated to the study, rehearsal, and performance of vocal music—new and old, classic and popular, a cappella and accompanied. Because of its commitment to such eclecticism, Symphony Singers is unique among youth choruses. In its second season, Symphony Singers will present three concerts, including a collaboration with the New York Youth Symphony in a performance of Ives songs in Carnegie Hall.
Rehearsals
Symphony Singers rehearses Tuesday evenings, from
6:30-9:30pm, at Thalia Studio in Symphony Space on West 95th Street and Broadway.
Performances
Symphony Singers presents several performances during the 2007-08 season at Queen of All Saints Church in Brooklyn, Symphony Space, the Kupferberg Center of Queens College, and in Carnegie Hall with the award-winning Orchestra.
First Music Prèmiere
The chorus will present in Symphony Space the première of a new composition written by Eric Guinivan. Working directly with the composer in rehearsal provides the unique opportunity for both creator and performer to realize musical dreams and to surmount the challenges of giving the world a new work of art.

Vince Lee, Music Director
A recent graduate of the Juilliard School, Vince Lee is often described as a dynamic, versatile musician with a diverse musical background. He began his studies in classical piano at the age of five, but his professional career began at age 9 as a singer and stage actor. His early experiences in voice and piano led to his first coaching position at age 13: preparing his school's children's' chorus for the Cincinnati Opera production of Carmen. This began his transition from the stage to the podium, and (at 13) made his professional conducting debut with the Cincinnati Pops under the tutelage of Erich Kunzel, appearing as a guest artist seven times over six years. Upon receiving the Bruno Walter memorial scholarship in 2005, Mr. Lee began his studies with Maestro James DePreist at the Juilliard School. A vigorous supporter of musical collaboration, Mr. Lee has conducted for the Juilliard Dance and Composition departments, as well as for the acclaimed "Beyond the Machine" series through the music technology department. Next season, in addition to his duties with the New York Youth Symphony organization and at Juilliard, Mr. Lee has been appointed as the assistant conductor of the Axiom ensemble.
