Chamber Music Students perform at Senior Center

On Friday January 17, students from the Chamber program performed at the Grand Street Settlement's Senior Center through Concerts in Motion.

Concerts in Motion shared images and the post below on their website. We are greatful to have such wonderful partners to bring music to seniors in our community.

"On Friday we presented the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Division at Grand Street Settlement. There were 22 seniors in attendance and they were very attentive and interested in the performance. The youth performers were wonderful and had an incredible level of musicianship.

First in the program was a solo violin piece by Bach. Then the five piece ensemble performed the "Trout" Quintet for piano and strings by Schubert. The musicians had prepared background information about Schubert and the piece, which was translated for the Cantonese-speaking seniors in the audience. Following the performance there was a Q&A with the musicians (also translated for the audience). The seniors were interested in where the kids went to school and how long they have been studying their instruments. There were many smiles of happiness and appreciation!"
