2013 ASCAP Concert Music Awards

The 14th Annual ASCAP Concert Music Awards were held on Friday May 17th where several participates of the NYYS Composition program were honored!

  • Michael Parsons, who has studied in the NYYS Composition program for four years, was honored with the Charlotte V. Bergen Scholarship at the 2013 ASCAP Concert Music Awards on Friday May 17th.   • Michael Ippolito, Associate Director of the Composition program, received Honorable Mention in the Up to Age 30 category.
  • Gabriel Zucker, an alumni of the Composition program and past First Music composer, received a 2013 Morton Gould Young Composer Award for First Music composition Universal at Midnight, which was composed for the NYYS Orchestra and Jazz band and premiered on the November 24, 2012 concert at Carnegie Hall.
  • Loren Loiacono and Conrad Winslow, who were selected for First Music Commissions for the 2013/2014 Orchestra season, were also honored at the ceremony.

Jon Deak, a long time supporter and collabortor of our programs, was honored with the Arnold Broido Award for his distinguished contribution to American music as composer, bassist and champion educactor.
