John Kaefer

JOHN KAEFER has been hailed by critics and audiences for his unique and imaginative scores for film and television, as well as for his creativity as a composer of chamber, choral, and orchestral concert works. His work has been described as “continually fascinating, a kinetic tour de force” (The San Francisco Classical Voice), “steely and hard edged” (The Los Angeles Times), and “vividly scored” (The New York Times). He has been the recipient of awards from The American Academy Of Arts And Letters, BMI, and ASCAP, among others. John holds a Doctoral Degree in composition from The Juilliard School.

John’s award-winning concert music is programmed frequently by leading musicians and ensembles, including major premieres at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in NYC,Wigmore Hall in London, and La Schola Cantorum in Paris. His orchestral and chamber music has been programmed throughout the United States, including performances with The Pacific Symphony, Eighth Blackbird, the Chamber Symphony of New Jersey,Symphony In C, violist Lawrence Power, The New York Youth Symphony, violinistCyrus Beroukhim, and The Yale Philharmonia, and many others. Also an active concert pianist, he has performed at Steinway Hall and Lincoln Center in NYC, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and numerous other venues throughout the United States.
