Matthew Scheffelmann

Matthew Scheffelman is Principal Horn of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. He performs regularly with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Ballet Orchestra and Broadway shows at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

Matthew’s professional career has been diverse, and has performed and toured with such notables as, Milwaukee Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, California Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, New York Chamber Orchestra, Berkshire Bach Society/ Festival, National Symphony of the Dominican Republic, jazz and big band groups in New York City, modern music ensembles and recordings found on iTunes. Matthew has been a member of the Aspen Summer Festival and Mid-Summer Mozart Festival, and Strings in the Mountains, Steamboat.

Matthew studied Horn at the Harid Conservatory and the State University of New York, SUNY Purchase. His teachers included David Wakefield, Julie Landsman, David Jolley, and Phillip Myers. Matthew teaches Horn adjunct at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, and taught adjunct at Colorado State University, Fort Collins.

Matthew is from Napa, California and began his studies with horn greats Glen Swarts and Bob Ward. He performed with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, and in NYC with the New York Youth Symphony, making his Carnegie Hall solo debut in 1995.
