Founded in 1963 as the Youth Orchestra of New York, 85 students made their Carnegie Hall debut in a program featuring a young Israeli violinist, Itzhak Perlman. Since then the organization has grown to include programs in orchestral training, chamber music, conducting, jazz, and composition, all tuition-free for those ages 12-22.
Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary season in 2012/2013 with over 20 performances throughout New York under the direction of incoming music director, Joshua Gersen, Jazz director Matt Holman, Chamber Music director Lisa Tipton, and Composition director, Dr. Kyle Blaha.
